Although Cavan is a county bordered on all sides, there is no shortage of rivers and lakes to appeal to the angler or water activity enthusiast.
Ireland’s longest river, the River Shannon has its source in County Cavan, with the River Erne being the other great river in the county. County Cavan has over 300 lakes to choose from.
The Lake County is also a county rich in historical attractions, ranging from ancient archaeological sites and artefacts such as the Bronze Age Killycluggin Stone to monastic settlements and the St. Killian’s Heritage Centre to the Cavan County Museum and the cathedral in Cavan Town.
